The Lysefjord, or the fjord of lights, was formed nearly 10,000 years ago during the last ice age. The 42-kilometer-long fjord is home to some of Norway’s most famous natural attractions,  Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock) and Kjerag, and offers limitless possibilities for outdoor adventures. From sea-level, steep granite walls tower hundreds of meters into the sky, dazzling visitors with some of the most dramatic scenery Fjord Norway has to offer.

Join our partner, Rødne Fjord Cruise, on a relaxing ride aboard a modern catamaran complete with a sun deck and snack bar. During the cruise, you’ll visit the mysterious Vegabond Cave, gaze upon Preikestolen, 604 meters overhead, and taste crystal-clear, cool mountain water, straight from the source!

Your adventure willl begin when you board the catamaran in Stavanger’s main harbor, Vågen. Depending on the weather, you may choose between sitting or standing outside on one of the boat’s decks, or finding a comfortable seat inside its cabin. During the 3-hour fjord cruise, you’ll be transported from Stavanger’s central harbor into the mighty Lysefjord. In-route, you’ll get an overview of the region’s urban fjords, islands, and mountains. The boat will then navigate under a suspension bridge that spans the mouth of the Lysefjord. Steep granite walls towering hundreds of meters above the fjord will emerge. As you cruise into the Lysefjord, you’ll pass waterfalls and abandoned farms before reaching the famous Preikestolen cliff. Weather permitting, you’ll have the opportunity to gaze upon the rock formation, which towers 604 meters overhead.

During the cruise, you’ll also visit the entrance to the legendary Vegabond cave, which is located inside a large crevice along the rugged mountainsides. The catamaran’s captain will then navigate the boat as close as possible to the Hengjane waterfall, where you’ll have the chance to taste its cool, crystal-clear mountain water. After visiting the sights, your captain will reverse course and transport you back to your starting point, in Stavanger’s harbor.
