Known to locals as the ‘fjord of lights’ for the ways sunlight seems to dance across its landscape, the 42-kilometer-long Lysefjord is home to some of Norway’s most famous outdoor attractions. With both world-renowned Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock) and Kjerag within its reach, the Lysefjord offers limitless possibilities for outdoor adventures.

Join our partner, Fjord Events, for 1 hour, 45 minutes of adrenalin-pumping excitement aboard a high-speed RIB boat. Get up close and personal with the Lysefjord and imagine how the Vikings must have felt when navigating its mighty waters. Gaze upon Preikestolen, which hangs 604 meters overhead, and taste crystal-clear, cool mountain water, straight from the source!

Upon meeting your RIB captain in Stavanger’s harbor ‘Vågen’, you’ll be allocated a water-resistant ‘floating’ suit, goggles, and a life vest. After a short safety-briefing, your adventure will begin. Just after departure, while speeding through the region’s urban fjords, you’ll have the opportunity to view Stavanger’s city center from a unique perspective. On the way to the Lysefjord, you’ll get an overview of the surrounding fjords, islands, and mountains. With the wind in your hair and adrenalin pumping through your veins, your captain will then navigate under a suspension bridge that spans the mouth of the Lysefjord. Steep mountain walls towering hundreds of meters above the fjord will emerge. The RIB will then continue into the Lysefjord where you’ll pass waterfalls and abandoned farms before reaching the famous Preikestolen cliff. Weather permitting, you’ll have the opportunity to gaze upon the rock formation, which towers 604 meters overhead.

During the tour you’ll get up close and personal with Norway’s pristine fjord nature. If you’re lucky, you may spot a majestic sea eagle gliding through the air or a seal peeking their head above the water. You’ll visit the entrance to the Vegabond cave, which is located inside a large crevice along the rugged mountains. Your captain will also navigate the RIB just beside the Hengjane waterfall, where you’ll have the chance to taste its cool, crystal-clear water. After visiting the sights, your captain will crank up the accelerator and transport you back to your starting point, Stavanger’s harbor.

The tour ends at ‘Vågen’ (Stavanger’s main harbour).
