Weather Changes

Due to the possibility of rapidly-changing weather conditions, it may be necessary to make changes to scheduled trips. In the event that your trip needs to be rescheduled for another day or cancelled on short notice, you may choose between joining the rescheduled trip or getting a refund. In the event that weather conditions deteriorate during your trip, it may be necessary to turn around on the trail or head back earlier than planned. If this happens, no refunds will be given.

NOTE: We cannot guarantee that the sunrise will be visible during all hikes.
As with all outdoor activities, weather is not something humans can control. Based on our experiences with past guests, we don’t cancel our tours in advance because of grey skies, light rain, or fog. Guests have a wide range of expectations, but it is our experience that most would rather go through with their hike, regardless of the weather conditions. Hiking under blue skies is nice, but there is also beauty in hiking through clouds, fog, and light rain. Some of the most spectacular sunrises have resulted from such conditions =)

On an annual basis, Preikestolen welcomes more visitors than any other trekking-destination in Norway. In 2018, approximately 300,000 hikers are expected to make their way up to the top of the imposing cliff that clings to the mountainside 604 meters above the Lysefjord, and offers some of the best views Fjord Norway has to offer.

Outdoorlife Norway invites you to experience a unique Preikestolen hiking adventure, guaranteed to be crowd-free! Start your day in the midst of darkness, and hike with headlamps through the morning twilight on trails that have recently been upgraded by Nepalese Sherpas. Experience standing atop Preikestolen before the crowds of tourists arrive, and watch as the first deep orange beams of sunlight illuminate the steep mountain walls that tower over the Lysefjord. Finish off the morning with a well-deserved breakfast/lunch at Preikestolen Mountain Lodge.

This is a moderately-demanding 6-hour, 8 kilometer hike with a total ascent of 500 meters.

When you think you can only do it once, your guide made you think about you will come back again

Booking tours with Outdoorlife Norway was the best decision I could have made for my trip to Norway a week ago. I went on tours of both Kjerag and Preikestolen: I was surprised to learn how young and small the company was considering the professionalism of the guides.

I went to Kjerag with the guide who originally from Italy (I can’t spell his name, will call him Mr.P), he was very kind and accommodating. Kjerag was my first hike, the weather and my jetlag seemed to conspire against me to keep me from completing the hike, but with his encouragement I was able to make it to the top and even get a photo on top of the wedged stone! This is an experience I have been anticipating for years and I was very excited to finally make it. I certainly couldn’t have made it alone and so am very grateful for the encouragement and help I received on my way up.

I took the Preikestolen trip with Erlend (who I called Allen on the hike), a Norwegian local who surprised me with his perfect English, and even more with his pronunciation of my Chinese name. We had pleasant conversation on the way: he’s a charismatic person who makes one feel comfortable and his hiking knowledge ensured we would have a successful trip. We were lucky to see different color clouds on the trip and the pictures Erlend took were excellent, I’ve received many compliments for them.

For Future tourists:

I would recommend a tour to both Kjerag and Preikestolen to anyone, especially folks who are relatively active and live in the city. It’s a breathtaking trip and refreshing for anyone feeling trapped in the concrete jungle.

I would recommend Outdoorlife Norway to anyone, whether you’re traveling alone or with a group. Their professional guides and well-planned trips take the stress out of the trip so that you can focus on having fun and enjoying the beautiful scenery that Norway provides.

Don’t underestimate the importance of the appropriate clothing when you’re hiking, specifically footwear. I had the option to use boots from the rental package I purchased from Outoorlife Norway, but instead chose to use my own and found them not to work as well as the boots that the other woman had (using those provided by the company). Luckily, Mr. P did a great job of guiding me down slippery surfaces. For my trip to Preikestolen, I learned my lesson and used the rented hiking boots: they were perfect for the job.

I’ve read reviews online that says these are fast-paced hikes, and it’s true. It’s important that the guide keep the pace so that the tour can make it through the hike and ensure a timely return to the ferry and so that the group will make it back before it gets too dark. I wouldn’t want to get stuck navigating down slippery slopes on a dark evening! It’s important to use daylight to do so.

Despite this, the guides were helpful and when group members would lag behind (doing so myself more than once) they provide encouragement and ensure that one doesn’t fall too far behind. It’s very important to evaluate one’s own physical condition and be honest – this is definitely a hike for decently healthy people.

For business:

As a Chinese native, I noticed that the Chinese language portion of the website omitted some important information. I would suggest you include the following: “*On Saturdays, and between Oct 15 – 19, the express ferry does not run and we will drive around the mountains.” I imagine some tourists may prefer to have an experience on the ferry, so this would be important. Once I saw this information on the English version of the site, I planned around it so that I would be able to utilize the ferry.

Finally, I think it would be excellent to be able to have an electronic option to tip the guides. I ran into an issue where I didn’t bring enough cash with me to tip and felt bad that I was not able to as the guides did an excellent job. I think this would be an extremely convenient option for tourists, as access to cash in a foreign country can sometimes be a challenge.

I hope the Outdoorlife Norway is continuing growing and stay the #1 in the area.

I enjoyed my trip very much – I wish you the best, from New York!

Sunrise hike

The best hike you can do if you want to go to Predikstolen. You are almost alone up there, a stunning sunrise and view over the fjord.

Phenomenal hike with an amazing view

My husband, father, and I had a fantastic sunrise hike to Preikestolen. Our trip started at 4am where our guide picked us up on time. Then we drove to the base of Preikestolen and began our hike once equipped with head lamps, hiking poles, and donning our rain gear. We wore waterproof hiking boots, rain jackets, rain pants, hat and gloves. We began our hike in the rain but the knowledge of our guide, hiking poles, and headlamps made the climb easy. Luckily for us, the rain stopped about 10 minutes into our trek which afforded us fantastic views along the hike and at sunrise. We arrived about 20 minutes before sunrise and had time to take in the phenomenal views, take pictures, and enjoy our surroundings. We enjoyed the sunrise and were given hot berry juice before ascending a little higher to view Pulpit Rock from above. We completed the return trip and enjoyed beet soup in the Lodge before driving back to Stavanger. An amazing experience that we highly recommend!

Amazing place & experience

It was a great experience from the beginning to the end. You could feel Erlend was experienced in the tour and he really enjoy doing it.
It is not an extremely difficult walk but also not the easiest, specially because there was a lot of water and the rocks were slippery.
The tour was really proffesional and the experience in the Preikestolen, just amazing.
The only thing that could be improved was that we arrived at 4am in the parking lot, at 4:20 we have finished with distributing the equipment and we waited until 5am for starting walking, as it was too early. I could have used that 30 min to sleep extra, as it was very early.
But totally recommended!

I highly recommend this company to everyone who loves to be in beautiful, breath-taking nature off the beaten track.
Nice and personal atmosphere thanks to small groups and charming, competent guides!

A friend and me booked the Preikestoln Sunrise-Hike in September.
With our guide Erlend (alias Allen preikestolen sunrise hike - Preikestolen Sunrise Hike - 1f609😉) and two other groupmembers we had a beautiful tour through the misty, colourful autumn-landscape. Because of the weather there wasn’t a good sight down the Preikestolen (actually no sight at all xD) but nevertheless it was a great experience and definitly the highlight of our norway-trip!

Takk for turen og bilderen! preikestolen sunrise hike - Preikestolen Sunrise Hike - 1f642🙂

Great guide and fantastic hike

What an amazing experience to hike in the dark, only being able to see a few steps ahead and ending up in the most beautiful light despite the rain and hence no sunrise as such.
Our Guide Erlend was super professional and pleasant, it’s very clear that he loves his job. We would love to come back and do the Kjerag hike.

Once in a lifetime experience !!!

I joined the guided tour with Alan as my guide for the sunrise hike to Pulpit Rock.

The day starts really early but the pick up was very smooth with Alan waiting for us at the Advertised time. We picked up the others in the group (9) in total. I was happy to see there was no issues with pick up.

After a short bus journey, a ferry ride and then another short bus ride we reached the starting point.
Alan was very helpful and informed us of what was going to happen and provided us with the hiking sticks and lights. He also checked to see if our clothes were adequate and waterproof. One last toilet break before we started!

The first part of the hike is tough! It’s very steep and does not give you enough time to prepare and start the hike. Alan said it was test to see if we could continue luckily my group all managed it- me? After stripping off some layers, water and nuts I was ready to continue.

The hike itself is hard at times with uneven rocks and steep climb however Alan ensures we walked at a good pace and stopped regularly to catch our breath and refuel. I was often at the back of the group but appreciated the stops so that I could catch up with the group.

It was raining at times and in the dark it was hard to manage but Alan was great and so was rest of the group to motivate you to continue. We stopped a few times to capture some pictures.

Once we reached the top it was beautiful! Serene and even with the clouds it was amazing and so worth it! Alan took his time taking everyone’s pictures and more! He reminded us to be safe and also supplied us with some lovely berry juice to keep us warm.

We then headed back in sunlight and the views were amazing! It was a faster pace back and I struggled a bit to keep up as at this point you are very tired. At times I lost the group and struggled to find the path so sometimes took the wrong step. Luckily there were others in the group with me so about 3/4 of us stayed together.

When we arrived back to the starting point I was expecting the breakfast but as we were late we had soup and bread and coffee. It was nice but would have preferred the breakfast.

Alan then dropped us back to the hotel.

Overall I felt safe, secure and enjoyed the guided tour with Alan and the rest of the group. The group has a mix of backgrounds and fitness and everyone was so nice! Alan was great, friendly, informative and you could tell that he has a passion for this!
Highly recommend this tour, it’s more fun doing it as a group.

This was my first time hike ever and I managed it even when I thought I would not and wanted to give up at certain points… trust me it’s worth it !!!!

Once in a lifetime experience

Johannes was a reallly organised and professional guide. He arrived to pick us up exactly on time and after boarding the ferry briefed us on what to expect during the hike. The hike starts in the dark with some heavy incline but we were always encouraged and waited for if necessary. Stops were made to rest and have snacks and water which gives you a chance to catch your breath and learn some information. It may seem difficult but the views at the end are well worth it. We could not have done it without Johannes. Would definitely recommend this tour company. Money well spent.

An activity every active person must do

Our hike started at around 4.15 am and we reached Preikestolen just after 6.30 am. For my wife and I both over 50s and with knee issues this was always going to be a challenge. Our guide on this trip Hilda was amazing. She gave us some “Robust” encouragement to ensure we keep up with rest of the group. The presence of her dog Molly also helped relieve some of the pains. We will carry pleasant memories of this trip for a long time. A big thank you goes to Hilda in ensuring we completed the activity. Highly recommended.

Absolutely worth the early start! Great photos and memories.

While we chose to stay at Preikstolen Mountain Lodge to maximise our sleep the night before, our meeting time was 4am in the car park. Our guide was Hilde (with her dog Molly). In a word, she was magnificent! We had 10 in our group. The trek started with a check of all equipment, distribution of head lamps and walking poles and a safety briefing. We left at 4:30am at a cracking pace for the first hill climb so we would all warm up. I was at the back of the pack and fell 20-30m behind at times, but Hilde assured me my pace was OK. At the end of each of the 3 climbs we had a break to re-group and adjust our equipment / clothing to ensure comfort. Hilde helped with guidance on this also. We took about 2 hours to get there, with Hilde monitoring our pace to ensure we got there in time but proceeded safely. While there was some light in the sky, we arrived in time to see the sunrise and get some great photos and memories. Hilde provided a hot drink while there and after 30 minutes or so at the rock (it was a bit windy, and we saw all we wanted to) we started the 2 hour trip back. Hilde reminded us to focus and not to rush on the descent to avoid slipping / injury. At the lodge we then had a good breakfast and enjoyed chatting more with other group members.
My husband & I are not experienced trekkers and found the walk demanding but managable – even if the pace at times was faster than what we would have set for ourselves.

Great experience – perfect group size – best guide ever

The two of us startet our tour with ourdoorflife norway at 2:30 a.m. despite the early hours our guide had a refreshingly happy mood. During the whole excursion it was obvious that she loved and knew what she was doing. We startet hiking in the dark with headlamps which was very cool. The atmosphere was very special. Along the way our guide provided us with interesting information without talking all the time which is great. At the top of preikenstolen we had enough time to watch the sun rise, take pictures, rest… there was no stressful mood at all 🙂 all in all we had a great time and were glad we chose this trip!

Preikestolen Sunrise Hike – When you take back good memories

Travelled to Stavanger on 30th Aug evening and took the Preikestolen Sunrise Hike on 31st Aug. Had thought it would be exhausting since I did not rest much. However, the experience was out of this world. A timely early morning pickup, amazing co-hikers and an excellent guide – Erlend (Alan – That’s what most of the people call him, I believe). He was organized, friendly, knowledgeable of the surroundings – provided excellent information on plants, birds, nature in general (- he loves biology!), made us feel comfortable. The head lamps and walking poles proved helpful. The small snack and warm berry juice from the local farm was refreshing. We made up to the top within time and got a fantastic view of the sunrise. Since we took the sunrise hike, the place was not crowded which was another plus point. Once we completed the hike, the breakfast arrangement at the Mountain Lodge was just what we needed. Post a hearty breakfast we were dropped off at our destined locations.
Overall, a thoroughly recommended hike because the Outdoor Life Norway is just not a team of professionals but they see to it that you take back good memories!
Sincere thanks to Outdoor Life Norway and Erlend !! 🙂

Amazing route and awesome guide.

It was a great experience. Hiking during the night for 2,5 hours in order to see the sunrise in the pulpit rock. It´s totally worth it and it´s not a difficult route but still you need to be able to do it and be in shape. First 15 min are the most difficult ones. Our guide, Alan, was fantastic the whole time. He is really well experienced. And if you are lucky of having clear sky the views are amazing. For me it was breathtaking 😉

Amazing hikes!

Me and my friend did the Kjerag and Sunrise Preikestolen hikes. We did both in two days. And it was amazing. For the Kjerag hike you have to have hiking experience. But Our guide Eric guided us perfect up and down. On the next morning we went to the pulpit Rock. Because we went so early we had all the rock for ourselves. One of our group was not so fit therefore we almost mist the breakfast. But the guide Erland guided Our group safe down. Thank you for the great memories. We loved hiking with you guys.

Well-organized and nice guide.

it was our first time hiking ever. For this reason, it was a kind of scary and uncertain if we could manage to climb up.
The guide, “Alan”, was super nice, and helped and waited for everyone (even the slow one, like us)
The tour was perfectly organized (Norwegian way of doing things) and there was no single incident or issue during the climbing.
After 2 hours, the views up there are just amazing. We were speechless contemplating such natural beauty at dawn.
The advantage of Sunrise Hike is that there are not people when going up, so it’s much easier. Besides, when getting up the whole place is “for you” and no push or hurry to make pictures of getting a nice spot to stay.
Absolutely recommendable!!!

Private tour…great

My two teens and I took a private sunrise hike with Outdoorlife Norway. All went great. Our guide was nice and friendly. Helped us all the way. Took pics for us. Would definitely recommend getting up for the sunrise hike. There was no one on the trail going up. We got amazing pics at the top with no one to photo bomb. Highest recommendations for a great trip. Thanks.

Incredibile

Lifetime memory

The sunrise hike is something I won’t forget probably for my whole life. It is a truly moving experience and it was enriched by Erlend which as a guide simply was able to make it more memorable with his stories, anecdotes and great knowledge in general. Not to mention that he always made us feel safe which is far more important!
It is worth waking in the middle of the night and trying this hike because the reward at the top is priceless (not mentioning beating the crowd during the day 😉 ). Truly a lifetime memory.

Preikestolen Sunrise Hike – a dream come true

Hello, everyone!
First of all. i would like to say that when we booked this hike, although we read some comments, we had really no idea what to expect. And it was very good, because what followed, was exactly what we wanted and what we needed.
The “adventure” started at around 01.00 AM, when our guide, a very nice girl, Mathilde, picked us up from a point settled when we made the reservation. All the way to the starting point (which was around 03.10 AM), she made sure that we all knew each other (8 people in the car) and by doing so, the time passed in a very constructive manner.
When we got to the starting point, Mathilde gave us headlamps (because it was dark), trekking poles and she showed us what was about to happen.
After about 2 hours, we were on Preikestolen and the dream came true. There were a couple of persons there, which made the plateau very accesibile for a photo shooting:)
Although we had no sun (because it was cloudy), there was no fog so we saw everything. In the meantime, Mathilde gave us a cup of hot tea and took some photos (if you take this hike, i highly recommend to the take the photo option, which means that the guide will take care of this for you).
We stood there for about an hour. Until the starting point, we made about 2 hours. Going down, we encountered many people that were hiking and, seeing this, we considered ourselves very lucky to be on Preikestolen without too much crowd,.
The conclusion is that we made a very wise choice and we are happy with everything that happened.
A very warm thanks to Mathilde for taking care of us and good hiking to anyone who takes this option as a hike to a very beautiful mountain.

Sunrise trail to Preikestolen

We had an amazingly beautiful hike to Preikestolen to see the sunrise over Lysefjorden. Our guide Mathilda was very nice and professional, and had some interesting stories to tell during the hike. We were provided with headlamps and walking sticks, snacks and hot juice as well as a nice breakfast afterwards. It was a great experience to hike in the dark and with only a few other people – definately recommended!

Trip of a lifetime – sunrise hike to Preikestolen

You get picked up around midnight and driven to the trail head. They have all the equipment you need for a successful hike in the dark. Our guide Mathilde was amazing! The hike up with head lamps took 2-2.5 hours. We had plenty of time at the summit to enjoy the breathtaking views. Then a 2 hour trek down the hill, where a hot breakfast was waiting. Highly recommend! Enjoy!

An experience I don’t want to miss!

This was the most memorable day of our whole Norwegian adventure! We were so lucky – not only because we made it to the Preikestolen, but also because the weather was excellent for seeing the sun rising with only some other quiet people around us and not a big crowd – and with an excellent guide! Alan is experienced, friendly and patient and very knowledgeable. He always motivated us positively. He not only led us to the top and back, he also explained a lot about the geology of the rock formation and mountains and about plants which we saw on our way. We would have joined another tour with him if there had been the time. We highly recommend Outdoorlife Norway. Takk for turen!

Brilliant and so worth doing it at night! Sunrise was perfect and our guide made every effort to talk to us, take lots of pictures and tell us stories. Really memorable experience, was much cooler at night and I would never be able to do it during the day in that heat! Fantastic experience.

Take this tour!

We took the sunrise tour, and it far exceeded our expectations. I’m not very athletic, but after the first hill, I had no problems with the hike, and Alan, our excellent guide, paced it perfectly. We took plenty of breaks for taking photos, hearing local legends, and learning about the plants and birds in the area. Even without the incredible views, it would have been an enjoyable hike. But at the top, we were speechless. Pictures can’t really prepare you for that kind of beauty. Go see for yourself! It’s worth every penny.

Exceptional experience.

This hike is the best way to see Preikestolen. It was just an exceptional experience. We left Stavanger at 0.15am and our hike commenced at 2.15am. We arrived back at “base camp” for breakfast at 7am. My tour host was Mathilde and she was wonderful. She is friendly, engaging, extremely fit, patient and knowledgeable. I think she was born for tge outdoors, nature and hiking. She made tge hike a memorable experience for me and i thank her for that. As for Preikestolen. …see for yourself but do yourself a favour and use this company….youll never regret it; missing the crowds and instead, experiencing the sunrise. And i can assure anyone a little afraid of heights (i am) ….you will be fine…so, if you use Outdoorlifenorway.com you will also appreciate not having to share the narrow ledge on approach with crowds of people!

Allen made our trip!

We had the crap weather. It was foggy and we couldn’t see anything. But to have a tour guide like Erlend (we called him Allen), he really made our trip and without him, the hike wouldn’t have been the same.

If you’re thinking of going on your own, that’s fine, but if you’re staying in stavanger, it’s over an hours drive away and after the hike (especially the sunrise hike), you’re exhausted and it’s just such a pleasure that Allen drives you back to your accommodation with no problem

It’s the ease of getting you there and back with all the equipment you need that makes this tour a standout.

Excellent!

Johannes was an excellent guide for both the Beat the Crowd Kjerag Hike and the Sunrise Preikestolen Hike. I could not rate his tour highly enough! He made the both the trips run smoothly and no stress for the customer. Johannes has a wealth of local knowledge and is happy to share his experiences with you. Thanks for a great trip! Can’t wait for the next one 🙂

Preikestolen at sunrise is something that everyone should witness

Our guide Erlend arrived early and had a friendly greeting for us. He introduced himself and outlined what the hike would entail.
He was very accomodating and answered all the questions that the group had.
Before we started he oulined the route and gave us a great insight into what to expect.
Along the route he gave plenty of breaks and had some interesting points on the nature in the area. He was also taking pictures and could pick out the best areas for views of the area.
The hike itself is extremely doable for all levels and the hiking poles provided are a great aid.
We got up to the top early enough and Erlend had some warm blackberry punch for us which was a nice treat.
The sunrise itself is spectacular and the views are amazing. I honestly don’t get too worked up about views but I can remember saying to my friend ”I’d stay here for hours, it’s amazing”
We had a great experience as there wasn’t a cloud in the sky and our group were all able hikers.
The breakfast that is included at the end is a nice touch and we all filled up on freshly made bread and meat/salad selection.

Take away points: The guide Erlend really nice, accomodating and enthusiastic (you can tell that he really loves his job)

The service all round is top class

The views are spectacular, I just hope you get a clear night/morning that we got

Put it on your bucket list for your trip to Norway.

Preikestolen Sunrise Hike – May 2018

Thank you Outdoorlife Norway for an incredible sunrise hike experience! It was our favorite part of our trip to Norway!

Erlend was our guide and we were picked up in Stavanger around 1am (this varies based on the time of year) and then made our way to Preikestolen. Our hike took around 2 hours to get to the top and we made it about 20 minutes before the sun came over the mountains.

This is a great hike with about 3 challenging “climbs.” The climbs consist of a steeper incline and rock stairs. The first climb is right at the start of the hike. This really gets the blood flowing and allowed our guide to gauge if we would be able to complete the hike. Of the 3 climbs, the third is probably the most challenging and the longest but there is a great sense of accomplishment when you get to the top of it! We were a relatively active group but not all experienced hikers and we were able to complete the hike.

Our guide kept a steady pace with several stops to adjust layers, drink and refill water and to catch our breath.

We were warned that there was a chance of fog the day we were hiking but we lucked out and had a clear day with the most breathtaking views I have ever seen.

At Preikestolen there were only 3 other people outside of our group around for the sunrise which was really nice because it is usually really crowded. We got to take a lot of stunning photographs and took in the surroundings.

We purchased the photography package for this and it was totally worth it. Our guide knew all the great places to take photos and what lighting worked the best.

We spent about 45 minutes to an hour at the top of Preikestolen before we made our way back down. Our guide also brought us warm juice to enjoy before we started hiking again.

The hike down wasn’t too bad and the hiking poles definitely helped when making our way down the 3 climb sections. When you get to the bottom you get to enjoy a nice breakfast at the lodge. (the fresh baked bread is amazing!) We were back in Stavanger before noon.

I would highly recommend this hike! Outdoorlife Norway is a great company, super responsive and informative and we had the best experience.

Rekommenderas.

Preikestolen Sunrise Hike: Favorite part of my trip to Norway

The short version: This was my favorite thing from my week long trip to Norway and I highly recommend it. Outdoorlife was awesome, our guides were phenomenal, I not only had a ton of fun with a great group of people and enjoyed a vigorous hike, but also got to see some epic views of Norway.

Phew, now I’ll go into more detail. Our guides were Alan and Hilde (plus her sweet husky Molly) and they were all amazing. Very knowledgeable and friendly and we had a ton of fun chatting and joking throughout the hike. Alan and Hilde pointed out many birds, wildlife, and interesting plant life along the hike which was fascinating and really added to the entire experience (an example of why its great to take these kinds of hikes with a guide). Molly the husky was a great bonus as she was so sweet and friendly and a fabulous model for adventurous photos. Our group was Alan and Hilde, my boyfriend and I and just one other person. It was great having a small group and we had the trail and Pulpit rock all to ourselves for the entire hike – which is apparently not always the case even so early in the morning so I consider us very lucky as it really added to the magic of the experience. We all got along and had a great time chatting during the 5 hours of hiking. Alan is an experienced photographer and took some awesome photos of us along the hike (which I purchased afterwards through Outdoorlife, I attached a few to this review). They were fine with me taking my own photos as well and said if I wanted to stop to take photos at any time just to say so which was nice, though I didn’t as much as I may have wanted to since I would be stopping the group constantly since everything on the hike was so breathtaking haha.

I consider myself in shape and often go hiking around Southern California and the National Parks, but this was a vigorous hike. They warned us ahead of time that the first leg of the hike would perhaps be the hardest, to get our blood flowing and prove we are physically able to complete the hike right off the bat, and they weren’t kidding. Im not sure if it was because I was only half awake from getting up at midnight but I was heaving and had to have my boyfriend carry my backpack to catch my breath after this first leg. The rest of the hike was more manageable but definitely still vigorous and required you to pay attention to your footing on the slippery wet rocks. So before booking just be aware this is a legit hike, not a stroll, and to come prepared with proper gear especially waterproof hiking boots NOT tennis shoes. For us, a waterproof coat and pants outer shell (and down jacket beneath) were also essential as it rained and snowed for much of our hike. Listen to your guide and the preparation instructions, they know what they’re talking about. Since our group was considered physically fit and we had the time, we got to take the “off the beaten path” trail for the way back down for variety. This trail was so cool and maybe my favorite part even more so than Pulpit rock itself. It was like we were hiking through undiscovered lands, surrounded by raw beautiful nature.

Note: The weather is unpredictable especially in Norway and you have to be prepared that you may not get a clear sky to view the sunrise. This probably goes without saying (hopefully) but me and my boyfriend reminded ourselves of this many times beforehand since we knew the weather would be rainy. Indeed it was, and there was a low-hanging mist shrouding Pulpit rock on the day of our hike blocking the view of the fjord below entirely. It was still an awe-inspiring view looking out into the abyss though, and on the hike up and down below the cloud-line there were plenty of clear, stunning views of the fjord and lakes. And it was still such a cool experience hiking through complete darkness to light, even without a spectacle for sunrise itself.

My only regret was that we didn’t have more time in Norway to go on more hikes with Outdoorlife. It was so much fun and an amazing experience I will always remember. And I saw from the online photos that the sunrise hike the day after ours had some clearer views, alas! But you can bet when my boyfriend and I return to Norway we will be booking more hikes with Outdoorlife.

Thank you so much Alan, Hilde, and Molly!
Takk for turen!

I did two hikes with Outdoorlife Norway and both were amazing and breathtaking in their own right. The Norse gods also blessed me with good weather because it was sunny and perfect and calm both days! (it was all rain and gloom when I left Norway to travel back to the US).

The Kjerag Autumn Hike (09.17) with Johannes was grueling and I was so glad I did that one first. Our guide was attentive and helpful during the more difficult parts of the climb. He had great energy and was a good conversationalist too. I don’t think I could’ve made it up to Kjerag in the time we did if I didn’t do this tour. I definitely struggled a bit and worried I was running low on energy since it was the last leg of my trip. But I made it and it was so worth it! The views of the valleys and the fjords were so breathtaking!

The very next morning, I got picked up at 02:30am for the Preikestolen Sunrise Hike (09.18) with the other guide Erlend. We started the hike around 04:30am in the provided headlamps and hiking poles. Thanks Erlend for making the uphill climbs feel as painless as can be. It was a very different experience and it felt really amazing to enjoy nature in silence and all I could hear was my own breath. I avoid crowds when possible, so it was awesome that Outdoorlife offers this type of tour. There was no golden hour on this morning, but the blue hour was still very magical.

Thanks Outdoorlife Norway for these unforgettable experiences and for making my life so much easier. I was on the coast of Croatia for most of my vacation and I was so glad that they offered rentals. I rented both the hiking clothes and boots, which really saved me from packing! They also offer a photography package which you have an option of purchasing. So worth it!

Absolutely awesome. I definitely recommend this incredible experience.
We began the Preikestolen Sunrise Hike around 4:30 AM and progressed through the night with our headlamps, until the morning light gradually illuminated our path and the landscape around. We were really lucky with the weather. Once arrived at the Pulpit Rock, we could see a breathtaking scenery and amazing rising sun. Could have stayed at the top all day long… We took great pictures too, you can take pictures on your own but I recommend to order the photography package, so you can have both.
The guide was very friendly and did a great job.
I was a bit reluctant at first before ordering this tour because of the price, but it is definitely worth wile. Moreover, you can enjoy Preikestolen without the crowds. I wouldn’t have done it alone by night so this guided tour was perfect.
Don’t hesitate and go hiking!

We did the sunrise hike to Preikestolen with Allen as our guide. Everything was perfect and we could not have asked for a better experience! Since we started the hike in pitch black darkness, it was so helpful to have Allen and the gear provided by Outdoor Life Norway: hiking poles, boots, and headlamps. Allen found a great pace for the entire group and provided great information along the way. We also couldn’t have hoped for better weather and ended up with incredible views and pictures at the top! Overall, a must-do while in Norway, especially with this company to make it a seamless and memorable experience!

I visited Stavanger on a quick bank holiday weekend, and was traveling alone. I booked the sunrise Preikestolen hike on 27/08/2017. Johannes was our guide, and our group was small – 7 people! I had a 2:30 am pickup time, and we arrived to the trailhead around 4-4:30 AM.

Johannes was great, explained the route, where the hills were, and what to expect along the way. He was friendly and affable, and explained a lot about Norway and the outdoor culture there. I appreciated that he kept a good pace, so felt like I was getting a good workout too :). We nearly had the trail to ourselves, which was nice. We stopped a few times, so everyone could grab a quick snack, water, and reorganize. We arrived to the top about 20 min before sunrise, and what a view! Totally worth the wake up time.

On the way down, there was a steady stream of people, SO GLAD I wasn’t in the middle of that. Lots of tour buses arriving as we were leaving after breakfast (which was also good!).

If you’re contemplating booking this hike, do it! Totally worth the wake up time, and then you have the whole rest of your day to enjoy Stavanger. I’ll definitely be back, and would like to do one of the multi day hikes. Thanks, Johannes!

We did the sunrise hike with Johannes as our guide on 27/08/2017.

Johannes was a great guide – he set out what to expect on the hike from the very beginning (ie the 3rd hill is the longest and the steepest). He was very patient and provided a lot of history of Norway, which you otherwise are likely not to hear. He encouraged you with the promise of brekky on the way down, and never failed to crack a smile and joke around!

It was so worthwhile getting up early and making it to the top before the majority of people are there – we left the rock around 7am and headed back down and the sheer number of people making their way up was insane! Whenever we come back to Norway, we will do another trip with Outdoorlife Norway!

The hike was really awesome! The guide is great and stopped every now and then to check if everyone was still alive and or to have a drink or make a picture. In addition, he gave us fun and interesting information about the area. At first it was foggy on the top, so we didn’t actually see the sunrise. However, the mist gave it a mysterious look, which was cool. Five minutes after we started to hike down, it cleared up (luckily). So, we hiked up again and got some great shots. I recommend this to everyone!

Amazing sunrise hike to Preikestolen! I was picked up at 01:00 AM in the center of Stavanger. We had a great guide, funny and he knows his stuff. We took the ferry to TAU and from there it was a short car trip to Preikestolen. After a nightly cup of coffee we started our climb. Although the weather forecast wasn’t great we got to see lot’s of stars and during the hike the upcoming morning light. After a hike of about 2,5 hours we arrived at the magical Preikestolen and we were the only ones. The sun peeked through the clouds and gave us a magical light show. Absolutely recommended!! And I wil be back, that’s for sure.

Our guide, Eldren, was great. He is very passionate about hiking and getting people to engage with nature. He even took the time to teach us about the local wildlife and edible berries and plants along the way. As for the hike itself, it was little demanding since I had barely slept; but with a good night’s sleep it is very doable. I also highly recommend the sunrise hike in order to get to the top before the bus loads of tourists arrive. We were lucky that the weather was good. Seeing the sun rise over the fjord was unforgettable. Excellent experience!

The hike to Preikestolen during the night was a great experience and we were very lucky with the weather and the view.
The trip was well organised, pickup at 1 in the night worked without problems too. Our guide was very friendly and supportive, told us a bit about the landscape, what you can see. He made sure we were there just perfectly on time. The only thing which I feel was strange is that he had quite a fast pace and there were typically 10-20m to the first person to follow. He did wait from time to time though to have the whole group together and we also did group photos:-) My expectation is that the quide adapts his speed to the group average speed or even to the slowest member. Our group was doing ok and everyone was more or less able to keep up, so no major issue for this constellation.
Thanks a lot for the unique experience

Amazing leadership; Incredible; extraordinary; excellent and massive thanks to our guide!

Well organized. We had a fantastic guide with loads of experience and a genuine passion for nature. You can really tell this is much more than just a job for them.
The weather was great during our hike, which meant we got to see some amazing views from the top as well as on our way up. The small groups (at most 7+guide) does provide a more personal experience and enables you to appreciate the views so much more without the crowds that show up later in the day.

Really nice sunrise hike with a very professional guide. We were lucky enough with the weather and the timing, despite making it to the top a bit after sunrise, it was just right when a previous group was leaving, so we had the Preikestolen all for ourselves for more than an hour, and the great photos speak to that! Would totally recommend this hike rather than doing it during the super-crowded daytime.

I was a bit nervous about the sunrise hike, but I was traveling by myself so wanted to go hiking with a group rather than going solo. When I got picked up, Erland informed me that two people had signed up but the other didn’t show up. I was impressed that they didn’t cancel the trip but still let me hike, even though I was the only one. The hike was enjoyable (a bit tough at times, but well worth it) and the views were unbelievable. I highly recommend this hike if you want good views & someone else to plan out all the transportation & logistics for you– well worth the money spent!

We had high hopes for the sunrise hike to Preikestolen an we were not disappointed! We chose this particular hike for the fact that they only take small groups and there’s less chance of big crowds up the top at that time of day. Our group was 5, including Erland our guide, which was perfect. The hike itself took approximately 2.5 hours and this included a few stops for photographs and snacks and made the hike very comfortable, most people of reasonable fitness should have no problem.
Erland was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, humorous and kept the hike and the information flowing at a good pace. I highly recommend the photo package which allows you to take in the amazing scenery while Erland does all the photography, he is a good photographer and knows the best vantage points.
When we reached Preikestolen we had it all to ourselves for almost the whole time we were there, the view and experience of being up there at sunrise is something you have to experience for yourself – pure magic, and absolutely unforgettable.
We found Outdoorlife Norway, Johannes and Erland to be professional, friendly and passionate – could not have asked for more. Takk for turen

When we booked our sunrise hike to Preikestolen/Pulpit Rock, we don’t really know what to expect. Both of us were not on big hiking, and not to say night hiking with potential rain. I’ve been wanting to visit Pulpit Rock for several years, and have a great high expectation of it and wishing to see the great view of fjords from it just as what I imagined in the dream. It turned out to be even AMAZING.
We were a bit worried about the rain as we saw on the weather report, and we emailed Outdoorlife about our concerns. They are super fast on responding and always giving plenty information and recommendation to make us feel very connected and helped. They said it would be drizzling, but probably fine. It did drizzle constantly for the first half of the hike, but it didn’t really bother anything. The wind, rain and dark night actually made the hike really fun and different. We embraced it and enjoyed it. All the people on this guided tour together were so friendly, plus our guide super funny and knowledgable. It’s a great pleasure hiking with these people.
When we got to the peak, rain already stopped for a while and cloud actually moved away towards the fjords. We didn’t see the sunrise, but the view ended up looked really amazing. You can see the fjords clearly in it’s blueish purple and gray color, fully of mystery and peace. It was way better than I could even imagined. That’s the beauty of nature.
The hike was about 2.5hr one way. You are actually climbing, a great work out. Guide is great, and he took amazing photos. Strongly recommended this hike and just book the photo package so you don’t have to worry about taking photos along hike and can just enjoy it 100%. Waterproof jacket and pants are must, so also recommend booking one if you don’t have any yet, not to say boots.

The top🙂 preikestolen sunrise hike - Preikestolen Sunrise Hike - 1f642

I really really really enjoyed my Sunrise Hike experience on the 12th of May.
The weather was actually very good and we had been able to start our path to arrive just in time to watch the sky change from blue, to pink, red and than a bright gold.
Our brilliant and very kind guide Erlend told us a lot of things about the rock and the nature that surrounded us. I bought the “photoshoot formula”, so Erlend took us pictures all the trip time and on the top of Preikestolen. Pictures are wonderfull and are a real tresure of this wonderfull experience I never could be able to do myself.
Thank you for helped me conquer the top

The most fulling way to enjoy the Preikestolen.

I decided to travel to Stavanger for a few days as a treat to myself, as it was my birthday. Initially I had planned to hike to the Preikestolen during the day, however, as I was travelling alone I decided to look for a tour and came across Outdoor Life Norway. I have never joined a tour with a guide or people I don’t know before so I was slightly apprehensive, however, my concerns were soon dismissed.

The group was only 5 people (Including the guide, Erlend), which is great because I didn’t want to have to wait for too many people, if they got tired, taking pictures, etc. We were picked up just before 1AM and made our way to the Mountain Lodge. On the way, Erlend was very friendly and got us talking and interreacting. I was particularly happy with Erlend due to his extensive knowledge of Norway and impressive knowledge about nature.

Erlend brief us on the hike just before we started and made sure everyone was ready and prepared. Throughout the hike, we made several stops and the care Erlend showed to all of us was brilliant.

During the Hike we stopped several time along good spots to take some pictures, which were great and will make a good profile picture

Arriving at the Preikestolen just before the sunrise with virtually no one to share it with was simply amazing. (there was a group of 5 hikers who got there before us, however, that is not even a problem as there is usually over 5 thousand of people hiking it every day). We posed several times for different pictures, with Erlend using his knowledge and photographic skills to get some good shoots of us.

Finally, the hike down feels like a different path altogether, as you hike up in the dark and come down when it is daylight. On the way down, we done a little detour and I’ve got an awesome picture with Stavanger as the background. Back to the mountain lodge, a spectacular build, it was time for breakfast. And let me tell you, there was nothing I could wish for that would beat the fresh baked bread along with some delicious fruit, while overlooking the lake.

Before I started the hike, I thought that the hike would be just a boring hike with the view from the Preikestolen being the only highlight, I could not be so wrong. Outdoor Life Norway and Erlend put together an awesome experience which I recommend to anyone. The blackcurrant tea at the top of the Preikestolen was just perfect

To them, Takk for turen!

I highly recommend these guys. They are very experienced guides and they are amazing in conveying the passion, love and knowledge they have for nature to other people. I had a fantastic experience with them, and learned a lot about Norwegian nature. Absolutely great!

I was a little bit scared to hike in the dark through the norwegian mountains up to the Preikestolen but Erlend makes you feel confident very quickly. He explains about the plants, animals, trolls, huldra and other spooky things :). Erlend takes really beautiful pictures during the hike and on the top. He loves what he is doing !

You may get up very very early in the morning to do the sunrise hike but you will not regret a single moment as you will enjoy a magical, breathtaking view, almost all alone, with a good tea and norwegian chocolate. We were very very lucky with the weather that day and we saw an amazing sunrise.

You need to be in a good condition and good shoes to hike up.

I reommend to hike with Outdoorlife Norway.

Takk for turen.

I was traveling to Stavanger to visit my son who lives there. I was there last summer, and didn’t make it to Preikestolen. I really wanted to get there this time. I was traveling solo, so I wanted to go on a tour. This one just really stuck out to me. And I am so glad I went.

It really was an amazing adventure. Nature didn’t cooperate, and there was no sunrise, but the view from the top is breathtaking. The tour guide was great. And hiking down to the lodge for a wonderful Norwegian breakfast was a perfect way to end the morning. Thanks you for the great hike to the beautiful view!!

Our guide Alain was knowledgeable and engaging, and a great photographer. The hike was moderate, but unfortunately the pace was rushed- particularly on the way up. I think that because we had just switched to the ‘later’ schedule in August there wasn’t the typical amount of time given to the ascent.
What was most important was the time at the top of this amazing place!
Also note: wear waterproof pants and hiking boots or they will charge you (a lot) to rent them.

Dear Andrew,

Thanks for taking the time to review your experience with Outdoorlife Norway. I am pleased to hear you enjoyed our tour with Erlend – often spelled very differently by our guests, ;). I am sorry you felt the tour was somewhat rushed, and I would like to explain why you might have felt it this way, especially for future visitors.

You joined the sunrise hike to Preikestolen. Since the sun rises early in Stavanger in summer, pick-up for this tour is in the middle of the night. To get to Preikestolen, we have to take a ferry. In the night time, there are only a few ferry departures. Since the time of the sunrise changes throughout the season, we have to calculate which ferry to take in order to “make” the sunrise.

As you said, on your tour we had just switched from a very early ferry departure to a (still) early ferry departure. We do this, so we can give our guests the opportunity to sleep (and thus be rested) as much as possible before the hike. Also, having to wait for the sunrise at the top of Preikestolen for 1,5 hours in the middle of the night (which would have been the case otherwise) would be too much for most of our guests, especially because it can get rather chilly.

We do not change the ferry departure without knowing that we have enough time to actually make the sunrise, which is set to two hours to reach the top. This requires our guests to be in reasonable shape and have some previous hiking experience, as explained on our tour description. So yes, we had a good pace on this particular day. =)

For us, it is most important that our guests experience what they came for: the sunrise at Preikestolen. As with all our tours, we do not like to be in a hurry, so we allow for enough time to rest on the top to enjoy the views, and taking it easy on the way down. Whenever we have more time on the way up, we take it a bit slower as well. 😉

When it comes to equipment, the terrain and weather requires visitors to use good hiking boots and clothes. You are in the mountains, where weather can change fast! Jeans and sneakers are just not sufficient for hiking. We give the opportunity to rent equipment when booking, but of course guests can take their own boots and water/wind proof hiking clothes. In our tour description and confirmation emails, we do state that guests have to rent boots and water/wind proof hiking clothes if they do not bring this themselves. This kind of equipment requires heavy investments and do not last long. So far, we have not made money on clothes/shoe rental. 😉 Safety first!

Thanks for giving us the opportunity to explain these details for future visitors! You are more than welcome to revisit our beautiful region!

Have a good one! =)

Due to a series of cancelled and delayed flights, I had less than 48 hours in Stavanger to visit two things that I had dreamed of seeing: Kjeragbolten and Preikestolen. With the help of Outdoorlife Norway, I was able to see both things in a unique and personalized manner.

I completed the hike to Kjeragbolten with owner/guide Johannes. Johannes picked up each hiker in a comfortable van for a 2-hour drive to the parking lot. Johannes led my group of 5 expertly through technical parts of the hike. He is knowledgeable, friendly, caring and patient. He took time to explain how to get on the rock and back and he took photos of each of us standing there. He provided light snacks and a hot drink at the summit. I hadn’t brought a lunch, and he gave me one of his sandwiches that he had prepared for himself.

Only a few hours later, I embarked on the Preikestolen Sunrise Hike with Erlend. I chose the sunrise hike because it fit my time frame. But know I realize it is one of the best and least-crowed ways in which to experience Preikestolen. Similar to the day prior, I was picked up by my guide in a van, transported on the ferry, and then taken to the parking lot. This hike ascent is done primarily in the dark, with use of provided headlights. Erlend was knowledgeable, friendly, and a terrific photographer.

Outdoorlife Norway organizes unique, small-group (8 people and less) experiences. It is very easy to book their services via their professional website. They will take care of the transport, equipment, and photography. They provide detailed information regarding all aspects of your journey. Takk for turen Outdoorlife Norway!

I booked the Preikestolen Dawn hike back in April and on coming to Norway, realised that you could do the dawn hike DIY so was sceptical about the value and had very high expectations.
TL;DR: it was definitely worth it and our expectations were exceeded, book it now.
It was almost like Erlend had appeased the mountain gods or something as it was a bright and clear night/morning when the day before the valleys had been full of fog and it had rained non-stop.
Erlend was a fantastic guide. He was knowledgeable, friendly and easy to talk to. Like a hiking buddy rather than a guide. His knowledge of the area and the flora added another dimension to the hike and made it completely awesome.
We were lucky in that my partner and I were the only ones booked for that evening so we enjoyed the luxury of a personal guide!
Erlend showed us what plants were edible, and gave us taste tests, showed us the carnivorous ones and told us about the various flowers, birds and grasses of the area which was unexpected and awesome.
His love of photography meant it was like we had our own professional photographer and I can’t wait to see some of the shots he took which we posed for on the way up and down taking breaks from hiking. He knew all the best spots to take photos, and we were lucky to have great light.
The view at Preikestolen was just as amazing as all the photos on the internet and we had the pleasure of having Móði and Magni (Erlend’s names for the local Ravens), put on a morning show for us as we watched the sunrise.
I’d highly recommend doing this hike with Erlend. Yes, you can don your headlamp and hike up there yourself, like a lot of others walking up the path to Preikestolen, but I don’t think any of them got as much knowledge about the unique and beautiful environment they were walking through as we did.
Worth every cent and would highly recommend it.

One of the most enchanting hikes. Erlend was knowledgeable and is a good photographer. The company delivers what is promised, although slightly expensive but really worth it. Imagine hiking in the dark with birds chirping…the clouds lie low and creating a mist. And importantly NO CROWDS along the way and at the top. And the beautiful sunrise. Magical. And on the way down, you get educated on the plants and end off with a well deserved breakfast. I highly recommend it!

This is a very arduous climb and not for the faint hearted and you need to be suitably attired and prepared. The guides say to allow 2 hours each way, however if you are unfit like me allow the best part of extra hour either way. The perseverance will pay off because the views from the top are magnificent and you can bask in a real sense of achievement.

While backpacking trough Norway for 2,5 weeks, I wanted to experience the most unique hikes and nature of Norway. The sunrise hike with Johannes was by far the most impressive and beautiful hike in which I participated. Watching the sunrise on the Preikestolen without people, clouds and any wind was a one-in-a-life experience which I will never forget! Johannes will make sure you have a perfect trip to the pulpit rock, he’s great! I recommend this trip to everyone.

Absolutely beautiful hike especially with avoiding crowds by going so early. In April didn’t even see other hikers until halfway through the hike back.

Guide was very knowledgable and fun to talk to through the trip. He was even able to bring his dslr and take photos since the group was so small. Made it way easier to focus on enjoying the trip versus trying to take pictures throughout.

The sunrise hike to Pulpit Rock was unreal couldn’t of asked for a better experience watching the sun come up and an awesome breakfast afterwards

We booked 2 tours (Sun rise hike and Kjerag hike) and both of them were absolutely amazing.
We were blessed with a good weather in the morning of the sun rise hike and we obaserved the sky gradully changing its colour and the beauty of the sun rise was beyond imagination. Don’t forget to bring some warm clothes as it could get cold while waiting for the sun rise.
We initially thought the drive to Kjerag could be bit long, but it was totally fine as we were entertained by various scenaries and their beauty. Johannes was very frindly and knowledgeable and his knowledge in the area enabled us to see one of the most interesing and amazing views one the way to the famous rock. Well, I think that was the best part of the trip rather than being on the famous rock!! Johannes was also very organised, punctual, and efficient, which we always value a lot when doing a tour.
Highly recommended!

THIS WAS AMAZING. It made my entire trip to western Norway the perfect experience. It was worth getting up to the mountain early and ahead of all the other tourists. You see the moon then the sunrise and you experience the mountain and fjords the way it was meant to be experienced. There is barely anyone else when you get to the top and you feel like you’re back in time and on top of the world. Gorgeous. If this is the only hike you do, then do this one for real. And Johannes is the best guide because he explains so much about history and nature of the area all the way up. He really cares about the environment and history and provides an EXCELLENT experience.

Norway is one of the most beautiful countries in the world and a paradise for hikers who want to experience the richness of nature and flee from the stressed everyday life. But even here some places are crowded with tourists and the Preikestolen with up to 5k visitors a day at summer is one of them.
Johannes offers an alternative. The Preikestolen Sunrise hike is an absolutely unique experience and was an event we will always remember. We where very lucky and had the chance to view an absolutely perfect sunrise but it´s not only about the sun climbing up over the fjord. The whole hike was very special and had something magic about it. Not least because of Johannes who is a great guide and made this trip the perfect event that it was.

We visited Stavanger in April 2015 to do the sunrise hike with Johannes (see the 1st review!!) but we wanted to come back again to see if we could get better weather. Luckily for us the weather couldn’t be more perfect.

Johannes is great to deal with and very professional. He has all of the gear to hire if you need to. Despite not having any sleep the night before our 1am departure, it was probably the best experience of my life to date. The scenery, views, experience and sunrise is something that not everyone is lucky enough to see.

Johannes has snacks along the way to keep your energy up and offers to take photos for you to ensure you capture the moment.

Would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Stavanger.

Preikestolen Sunrise Hike was the first hike of two days hiking with Outdoorlife Norway. Our hike began at 3 am (early!!!) and in complete darkness. Our local guide, Johannes, shared a bit of history of the trail and was polite, patient & fun to hike with. At the top we were welcomed by thick white fog and saw the transition of mountain weather to a beautiful sunrise. One of my favorite parts of the hike is experiencing it in complete isolation, as we were the only people hiking that early. The entire hike was very peaceful and rewarding. I would definitely recommend this hike to anyone visiting Norway!!!

The sunrise hike to Preikestolen was a very special and amazing experience. Johannes was an excellent guide and permanently concerned about our wellbeing during the event. Since this was my first hike I was quite nervous and too excited before the trip, but knowing that we were with a professional such as Johannes made me feel at ease. The sunrise at the top was magnificent, and adding the hot drinks and pancakes made the moment even more special. Thanks again Johannes for an amazing trip.

The Pulpit Rock is just an amazing place in the Norwegian nature! I specially enjoyed the fact that it was a night-hike with an arrival just in time for the sunrise – the light is overhelming and perfect for photos! But best of it: You are on the rock at a time, when it is not crowded by other tourists yet. Johannes knows everything about that hike including some secret spots for the best photos – thank you!

Timo

The most rewarding hike I have ever done. Colorful from step one until you get back to enjoy your breakfast. I’ll do this 100 times again. Johannes is an excellent guide! Please yourself and join this hike!

Javier

Amazing, one-off experience! Night hike gives a bit of thrill and stretch, and is fully rewarded by the marvellous views from the top. Lysefjord in the sunrise light is a scenery to be remembered for life, and taking this very morning trip gets you a chance to enjoy the view in your small company, not in the crowd. The hike was organized and guided by Johannes, in a very professional yet friendly and humorous way, so we all enjoyed it greatly. All in all excellent, highly recommend!

The Sunrise Hike to Pulpit Rock is a must do when you’re in Stavanger. Johannes was a fantastic guide and very informative. It is such a great way to start the day, something unique and different that’s for sure! I would love to return and do it again 🙂 preikestolen sunrise hike - Preikestolen Sunrise Hike - 1f642Thanks Johannes for an amazing experience!!!
