Have you ever hiked along a fjord? We want you to realize your wildest hiking dreams. Grab this opportunity to traverse the famous Lysefjord and experience all of its majesties over the span of a long weekend.

We’ve designed a demanding hiking trip for those who would like to visit the mighty Kjerag boulder, world-renowned Preikestolen, and Flørli: the longest wooden staircase in the world (4,444 steps!). To be able to hike 30 kilometers -including a total ascent of 2,500 meters- in just two days, you’ll need to be very physically fit and up for a challenge. To add an extra element of excitement to your adventure, we’ll arrange a fjord cruise in a RIB boat. Each night, we’ll rest our muscles at cozy mountain lodges. To add extra comfort during your tour, we’ll organize luggage transport between the lodges. This means you’ll only need to carry a day-pack while hiking =)

Itinerary 2017:

Thursday July 13th:
From Stavanger, you’ll take a ferry ride and then a bus in order to reach Preikestolen Mountain Lodge. (Ferry departs Stavanger at 15:20 (3:20pm); arrives 16:25 (4:25pm)). After check-in, we’ll have a three-course dinner and information briefing at 18:00 (6:00pm), at the unique Preikestolen Mountain Lodge, located beautifully at Refsvatn Lake, where we’ll also sleep (in shared 2, 3, or 4-person rooms).

Friday July 14th:
After breakfast and check-out, our hiking adventure will begin! While your luggage is being transported for you, we’ll hike with day-packs to the famous Preikestolen, which hangs 604 meters above the majestic Lysefjord. From there, we’ll leave the crowds behind and go off the beaten track to hike along the Lysefjord until we reach its base, all the while enjoying sights only few have seen. Once at sea level, RIB boats run by Fjord Events will be waiting for us. Then, while we roar through the fjord towards the abandoned yet idyllic Flørli, we’ll get to view Preikestolen from a completely different perspective. At Flørli, we’ll dine in the former water powerplant facility, which is now a museum, and then spend the night in 8-person apartments (2-4 people per bedroom) with great views of the fjord. Before you go to bed, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a Norwegian jacuzzi on the fjord’s shoreline.

Saturday July 15th:
Here we go again! You’ll want to make sure to eat a good breakfast, because you’ll be burning a lot of calories. While your luggage is being transferred to the innermost point of the Lysefjord, we will be hiking up the world’s longest wooden staircase (4,444 steps!), which will lead us from sealevel all the way back up into the mountains. Then we’ll hike along numerous mountaintop lakes while we make our way to the famous Kjerag boulder, precariously wedged in a mountain crevasse. Standing on the boulder – which is suspended 984 meters over sea level–  is reserved for daredevils. Fortunately for the non-daredevils amongst us, the hike itself provides a plethera of breath-taking views of the spectacular Lysefjord. Steep mountain walls rise straight up out of the water, towering 1000 meters above the fjord’s base. We’ll end our hike at Øygardstøl. After a short transfer by bus, which will navigate through 26 spectacular hairpin-turns, we’ll once again be at sea level. After a well-deserved hot shower, we’ll once again enjoy a 3-course dinner, and then spend the night in shared bedrooms (2-4 people per bedroom) at Lysebotn Mountain Lodge.

Sunday July 16th:
On our final day, we’ll have time to enjoy a leisurely breakfast followed by sightseeing and/or relaxation in Lysebotn. We’ll travel back to Stavanger first by high-speed ferry (1 hour) and then by bus (45 mins.). During our return voyage, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy the Lysefjord one last time, taking in the sight of all the breathtaking rock formations and waterfalls you hiked along over the past 2 days.
