As the saying goes, Norwegians are born with skis on their feet. Though untrue, it’s a fun metaphor to describe how much they enjoy spending time in the great outdoors. For the average Norwegian, the ideal nature experience involves trekking for hours, or even days, without ever having crossed another person’s path. For this reason, many of the locals prefer to hike ‘off the beaten track’ to little-known locations instead of braving the crowds to visit places like Preikestolen and Kjerag.
Join Outdoorlife Norway on a day-hike to Mt. Reinaknuten and experience the Ryfylke region from a local’s perspective. Experience the magic of hiking through diverse landscapes in near-solitude. Enjoy panoramic views of lake Tysdal and the region’s vast archipelago. Relax while savoring local craft beer & Ryfylke snacks at Lilland Microbrewery.
Your professional guide will meet you at your pre-selected pick-up location. Your adventure will begin with a 30-minute transfer to the base of the hiking trail, including driving the world´s longest undersea road tunnel. After a short briefing, you’ll embark on your journey to Mt. Reinaknuten.
Your guide will lead you up through the shifting terrain and onward to the mountaintop. While hiking through a variety of landscapes including birch forests, boulder fields, and along mountain lakes, you’ll have opportunities to catch your breath and snap photos of the spectacular nature around you. After about 3 hours of trekking, you’ll reach the top of mount Reinaknuten where you’ll be rewarded with a panoramic view of massive granite cliffsides, lake Tysdal, and the region’s North Sea coastline, which is dotted with hundreds of islands. While taking in the scenery, you’ll have time to enjoy your packed lunch and a warm beverage.
After lunch, your guide will lead you back down the mountain to the base of the hiking trail, which will take about 2 hours. You will then be transported onward to Lilland Microbrewery Hotel, where you’ll rest your feet up while being served a selection of locally produced craft beers and regional Ryfylke snacks. After the beer tasting, which will last about 90 minutes, you will have the choice between remaining at Lilland Hotel or transportation back to your starting point in Stavanger.
